This Privacy Policy explains what information Virtual Solar University collects from job applicants, contractors, and visitors to virtualsolaruniversity.com, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Who we are

Virtual Solar University recruits, trains, and manages remote solar appointment setters across the United States. We are the controller of the personal information described in this Policy. Contact details are in section 10.

2. Information we collect

We collect information you give us and a small amount collected automatically.

Information you provide:

Name, mobile phone number, and email address
Work history, availability, and answers to screening questions
Interview scheduling details and notes from conversations with our recruiters
If you are hired: onboarding details needed to pay you and to issue platform access. Tax identification and banking details are collected only after an offer is accepted, and are stored in restricted systems.

Information collected automatically:

Basic device and browser information, and pages viewed on this site
Approximate location derived from IP address

Information from job boards:

When you apply through ZipRecruiter, Indeed, or a similar service, that service passes us the application details you submitted, including your mobile number.

3. How we use your information

To evaluate your application and communicate with you about it
To schedule and confirm interviews
To extend offers and complete onboarding if you are hired
To operate our internal platform, including training, scheduling, and payouts for active contractors
To meet legal, tax, and recordkeeping obligations
To improve our recruiting process and our website

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use applicant information to market solar products to you.

4. Text messaging

We contact applicants by SMS text message about the hiring process. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of employment, and you can opt out at any time by replying STOP. Message frequency varies and message and data rates may apply. Full program terms are on our SMS Terms & Messaging Policy page.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as customer service and messaging delivery providers, is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

5. When we share information

We share personal information only in these situations:

Service providers that operate our systems on our behalf, under contract and only for that purpose. These include our cloud hosting and database provider, our telecommunications provider for calls and text messages, our email provider, and our payment processor.
Legal requirements, when we are required to disclose information by law, subpoena, or to protect our legal rights.
Business transfers, if our business is merged or acquired, subject to this Policy.

We do not sell or rent your information to data brokers or advertisers.

6. How long we keep it

Applicant records are retained for as long as needed to evaluate your application and for a reasonable period afterward in case a suitable role opens up. Contractor records are retained for the duration of the engagement and afterward as required by tax and employment law. Opt-out records are retained indefinitely, because we are required to prove that we honored your request to stop messaging you.

7. Your choices and rights

Reply STOP to any text to stop receiving messages
Ask us to correct information that is wrong
Ask us to delete your information, subject to legal retention requirements
Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
Withdraw your application at any time

Residents of California and other states with comprehensive privacy laws have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion or correction, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. To make a request, email us at the address in section 10. We will verify your identity before acting on the request.

8. Security

We use access controls, encryption in transit, and restricted-permission storage for sensitive fields. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit who can see sensitive information and log access to it.

9. Children

Our positions require applicants to be at least 18 years old. This site and our messaging program are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
